Salon Pricing Playbook — community workshop to build profitable, fair service rates
Goal: build a practical pricing playbook that helps salons set fees covering true costs, reward staff, and match local demand. If you’ve tested pricing systems, please share first-hand artifacts and outcomes so others can adapt and peer-review.
What to share (concise, real examples preferred):
- Costing method or calculator: upload a spreadsheet or screenshot and list inputs you use (service minutes, labor burden, product cost %, station/occupancy allocation, marketing, supplies, desired margin, utilization). Explain any assumptions.
- Sample menus: before/after price lists and the rationale for tiering or add-ons. Include region or market tier.
- Commission models: exact math for splits, tiers, guarantees, or booth rent. Show example paychecks/net income for staff at different productivity levels.
- Scripts & client comms: short copy or talk tracks you used to announce price changes and the client response.
- Outcome snapshot: one-line result after the change (retention %, ticket avg, margin %, staff turnover or satisfaction).
Formats I’d like to run if there’s interest: a guided workshop to build live menus, peer-audit sessions to sanity-check numbers, an AMA with a salon finance consultant, and a downloadable pricing toolkit (calculator + scripts). Reply with which format you’d join by typing "workshop", "peer-audit", "AMA", or "toolkit".
Start now: paste your most reliable cost formula or a short client script you’ve used for a price update. Please keep shared files anonymized.
